Top 5 Rarest Marine Deep Sea Creatures

I know you have seen some of the most eye catching marine sea creatures, and that is in our previous post i aware. So now i wanna try something slightly different from before, which is to share the 5 of the rarest marine sea creatures, mostly from the deep sea if i should add. They lived on the bottom of the sea where you won't even dare to imagine even a bit, because it is mysterious, it is dark, and it is real horror. All we could think of when discussing about the marine sea creatures must be unique, mysterious, and probably scary, well... that is exactly what lies there. The sea is has the bigger portion than land on this planet earth, and it is wide and deep, very deep indeed, there is probably millions of species of marine sea creatures in there, from the tiniest to the largest one. I can't even say more things about them, let's just check them out.

Oarfish or should i call it the real sea dragon, are large, greatly elongated, pelagic Lampriform fishes comprising the small family Regalecidae. Found in all temperate to tropical oceans yet rarely seen, the oarfish family contains four species in two genera. One of these, the king of herrings (Regalecus glesne), is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the longest bony fish alive, at up to 17 metres (56 ft) in length. What an animal to start our amazing marine sea creatures story, right?

This marine sea creature mesmerizes its prey by flashing it, but not in the what's-under-that-trench-coat kind of way. In an actual, literal light-gets-in-your-eyes kind of way. By emitting flashes of light used to blind their prey, the Dana Octopus Squid successfully disorients, then captures them.

We're looking at a rare, fish-like marine sea creature known to marine scientists as amphioxus. Widely known for being not only faceless, but brainless, these small, elusive creatures are some of the most bizarre ocean-dwellers human have ever discovered.

Frilled Shark

The Frilled shark is one of the most rarest species of sharks in the world. With an eel like body and deadly typical shark jaws, the Frilled Shark is a perfect explanation for the famous mythical sea serpent.

The frilled shark is a 'Living fossil'. This is because it was long thought to be extinct and was known only through fossils. It was until 2007 that the world once again witnessed a living frilled shark, that must truly be the ultimate marine sea creature experience.

Special mention:

Loch Ness Monster

Rarest Marine Deep Sea Creatures The Loch Ness Monster

While the Scottish Highlands have a history of having things appear out of the mist (is Brigadoon humor still in, or is 60+ years too much time?), it is the The Loch Ness Monster, or "Nessie" as we've come to know her, that has become the most popular Scottish Highlands' mist-dweller. The story goes that in August of 1933, the Courier published an article stating that a man had witnessed what appeared to be a dragon ... or at least, the closest thing he had ever seen to a dragon. Years passed, and evidence proving Nessie's existence (including photographs, video and even sonar) mounted. Because of this evidence, The Loch Ness Monster has been neither confirmed nor denied, that said we could also state this then, this is the rarest marine sea creature, right?

I guess we all should agree and realize that it is most likely that we won't have a chance to see this rarest marine sea creatures with our own eyes, so to make it counts, at least we know how they look and how they lived, and of course to be sure that they marine sea creatures really exist.

Top 10 Most Eye Catching Strangest Marine Sea Creatures

Now that you know about them marine sea creatures below the deepest ocean generally, it's about time we share with you one or two of them animal samples, here inside our amazing collection we have filtered them into something more interesting and enjoyable treat. The photos are amazing, but unfortunately we have to admit that we didn't own them, but they are truly amazing, the marine sea creatures i mean. Judging from the appearance of this amazing creatures, you could tell that the deep sea is truly filled with so much mystery, from beautifully unique to devastatingly horrifying creatures, all of them lies beneath the deepest sea in the ocean, which by the way is the majority of this planet earth. I mean to be honest, if we were to separate them from aliens, we will need one hell of an effort to do that, because they all look the same, they maybe even be one of them, for God's sake, but only God knows, because He created them. We all just left with a choice, right? And here's my most eye catching strangest marine sea creatures:

Ocean Sunfish (Mola Mola)

The Dragonfish is a ferocious predator despite its small size. This fish grows to about six inches in length. It has a large head and mouth equipped with many sharp, fang-like teeth. The dragonfish has a long barbel attached to its chin. This barbel is tipped with a light-producing organ known as a photophore. The dragonfish uses this organ like a fishing lure, flashing it on and off and waving it back and forth. Once a unsuspecting fish gets too close, it is snapped up in the dragonfish's powerful jaws. The dragonfish also has photophores along the sides of its body. These light organs may be used to signal other dragonfish during mating. They may also serve to attract and disorient prey fishes from deep below. The Dragonfish lives in deep ocean waters at depths of up to 5000 feet (1,500 meters). They are found in most tropical regions around the world.

Pelican Eel (Gulper Eel)

This is exactly why i previously stated that the deep sea is such a terrifying place, The pelican eel has an enormous mouth, much larger than its body. The mouth is loosely-hinged, and can be opened wide enough to swallow a fish much larger than itself. The pouch-like lower jaw resembles that of a pelican, hence its name.

Megamouth Shark

This shark is an extremely rare and unusual species of deep water shark. Discovered in 1976, only a few have ever been seen, with 39 specimens known to have been caught or sighted as of 2007 and three recordings on film. Like the basking shark and whale shark, it is a filter feeder, and swims with its enormous mouth wide open, filtering water for plankton and jellyfish.

Viperfish

With a fearsome grin fit for a monster in any thriller movie, the viperfish is a real-life predator that lurks in one of the world’s most remote locations, so don't ever stop to be cautious, okay?

Giant Squid

The elusive giant squid is one of the world’s largest animals, reaching a length of up to 60 feet. It is the largest known invertebrate in the world. Damn!!! I believe it could kill anyone easily, even Chuck Norris, lol.

Vampire Squid

The vampire squid looks more like an alien to me. The squid has large fins at the to of its body that resemble large ears. The vampire squid has the largest eyes of any animal. It is a small animal, growing to a length of about six inches, but it has globular eyeballs as large as the eyes of a huge anime eyes. The vampire squid's body is covered with light-producing organs called photophores. This gives the squid the unique ability to "turn itself on or off" at will, it will be cool if we could have one of them living in our aquarium, right? These squid live as deep as 3000 feet. Unlike other squid and octopi, the vampire squid has no ink sack. The vampire squid's arms are covered with sharp tooth-like spikes. That's why it is called the vampire squid.

Long-nosed Chimaera

Biologists have gone to great lengths to describe the long-nosed chimaera, whose kind can reach five feet in length. Its stiletto-like nose reminded one of "the nose contour of a supersonic jet aircraft." Others have dubbed it "rattail," for obvious reasons. In South Africa, it is known as the "ghost shark," though it is only distantly related to sharks. A touch of the venomous spine on the first dorsal fin can kill a person, though such a fate is unlikely given the 8,000-foot depths at which this creature lives. This really makes me think how wild could this strangest marine sea creatures be?

Giant Isopod

The giant isopod is the largest known member of the isopod family. Giant isopods are known to reach a size of over 16 inches in length and are one of the largest members of the crustacean family. These animals are very prehistoric in appearance. When threatened, the can roll themselves into a tight ball where they are protected by their strong, armor-plated shells. Giant isopods are all over the world at depths of over 2000 feet. These creatures are thought to be abundant in cold, deep waters of the Atlantic and Pacific Ocean.

Glass Squid

Yes, finally we could be happy at least for once, because with its polka-dot mantle and wide-eyed expression, this glass squid represents a lighter side of the inky ocean deep, what a relieve that this cute and wonderful creatures is here to complete the strangest marine sea creatures list, right?

Holy ****, right? Fiuuhht... Seeing that is one hell of a ride, it is just simply extraordinary, or should i say extraterrestrial to be precise? They lived way below the sea, dark in the cold, just imagine diving in the dark with them strangest marine sea creatures makes me shivers to the spine.

Learn More About Marine Sea Creatures Through Marine Biology

It sure is the wildest wonder of the world how marine sea creatures are the commander of the earth's animal world, we say so because not to mention how their population are the biggest in the world, sea marine creatures also have the most number of species, and to add to its amazing resume is that both the largest and the smallest animal is one of them marine sea creatures too. Can you actually beat that? You must be so curious about them so that you can't go just yet and decided to stay here to read and find out more about marine sea creatures, well, to learn more about them all you need to do is simple actually, you need to read and study more about marine biology, and lucky for you and for us, we will be discussing about it here.

Marine biology is the study of life in the oceans and other saltwater environments such as estuaries and wetlands. All plant and animal life forms are included from the microscopic picoplankton all the way to the majestic blue whale, the largest creature in the sea and for that matter in the world.

In Marine biology there are some sub fields which are as follows:
  • Deep-sea ecology, here we learn about the technology of equipment needed to explore the deep sea to greatly help the study of this largely unknown space in the sea.
  • Ichthyology, is the study of fishes, both salt and freshwater. There are approximately 25,000+ species of fishes out there for us to discover.
Marine Sea Creatures Through Marine Biology Fish

  • Microbiology is the study of microorganisms, such as bacteria, viruses, protozoa and algae.
  • Fisheries and Aquaculture is where we learn to protect biodiversity and to create sustainable seafood sources because of the world's dependence on fish for protein.
  • Environmental marine biology, the study of ocean health which is important for scientists to determine the quality of the marine environment so that they could ensure water quality is sufficient to sustain a healthy environment for all the marine sea creatures.
Marine Sea Creatures Through Marine Biology Environment

  • Marine mammology is the study of cetaceans, which is families of whales and dolphins, and pinnipeds (seals, sea lions, and the walrus). Their behaviors, habitats, health, reproduction, and populations are all studied here.
  • Marine ethology, here is where behavior of marine animals is studied so that we could understand the animals that share the planet with us. This is also an important field to help species whose habitats are threatened by man or natural phenomena.

And also to learn more about marine sea creatures which will take plenty of our times in the future, these are all the previews of what's coming next on this very blog about marine sea creatures:
